Our Approach

Professional Lighting Design Services

Design Ignito provides professional indoor lighting design services for retail, commercial, and industrial spaces across the Netherlands, Europe, and the UK. We specialize in creating efficient, compliant lighting solutions that meet regional standards such as NEN-EN 12464-1 (Netherlands), EN 12464-1 (EU), and BS EN 12464-1 (UK). Using advanced lighting design software such as DIALux, we develop accurate, regulation-compliant lighting schemes tailored to the specific needs of each project.

Our services prioritize sustainability and energy efficiency, incorporating LED technology, daylight integration, and smart lighting controls where appropriate. We collaborate closely with architects, lighting companies, and M&E consultants to ensure our designs meet all performance, visual comfort, and aesthetic requirements. From concept development to detailed specification, we support our clients in delivering lighting environments that are functional, future-ready, and aligned with modern building standards.

Project Consultation and Site Preparation

Project Consultation and Site Preparation

Following an initial consultation to understand the specific project requirements—including the desired aesthetic, look, and feel—we will begin the site simulation process using our specialized software.

To proceed, we require site plans in AutoCAD (.dwg) format. Alternatively, a high-quality PDF can be provided, which we can convert to AutoCAD as needed.

In instances where digital plans are unavailable, we can proceed using accurate manual measurements.

Lighting Layout and Simulation

The next phase involves developing a detailed lighting layout. To accurately simulate and design the lighting for your project, we require a complete list of luminaires, along with their corresponding IES or LTD files provided by your lighting manufacturer.

Lighting is not solely an aesthetic consideration—it plays a critical role in health, safety, and overall functionality. Therefore, our designs adhere strictly to the relevant regional lighting standards to ensure both compliance and optimal performance

Design Handover and Revisions

Upon completion, the design package includes a comprehensive lighting report detailing lux levels, energy consumption, and a bill of materials necessary for project execution.

We also provide an AutoCAD file showing luminaire placements to support your electrical team in developing the circuit layout. A PDF version is available upon request for on-site reference and printing.

We understand that adjustments are often required during construction. Therefore, we accommodate design revisions to ensure the lighting solution remains aligned with project developments and on-site realities.

Purpose of Heatmaps in Lighting Design for Visualizing Lux Levels

Heatmaps in lighting design are a crucial visual tool used to represent the distribution of light across a space. They serve the specific purpose of illustrating lux levels—the measurement of light intensity perceived on a surface (measured in lumens per square meter). By assigning color gradients to different light intensities, heatmaps allow lighting designers, architects, and clients to quickly and accurately interpret how well a space will be illuminated.

In summary, heatmaps provide a comprehensive and intuitive method to assess, communicate, and execute lighting designs with confidence. They are an essential part of any professional lighting layout, ensuring both performance compliance and visual clarity for all project stakeholders.
